Fear of success is far bigger than fear of failure for many people.
Afraid of Success
Here’s how to help a client who’s afraid of success. Of course, you are free to answer the questions if this applies to you, too. [HINT: It does!]
- So, you’re afraid of success… What precisely are you afraid of? Write it out. One uncomfortable fear at a time.
- Then write out the fear underneath each fear.
- Then, for each fear, write out: What would be the worst thing if that fear came true? And would actually be the best thing if that fear came true?
- Then write down your top 1-3 insights.
Now that you’re complete, you know that thing that scared you? Do it anyway!
3 ways to become dramatically more successful
- Stop trying to get rid of Imposter Syndrome. Get good at it.
- Everything you want is on the other side of an uncomfortable conversation.
- Your next level of success is one tiny but scary step away from you. And a little scary is good.
Fear and Love
Learned from Shir 16 November 2022
- Build two lists capturing all the ways one finds that you find you express love and fear in the moment (one list each)
- For each list above, converge on your “top three” predominate and most common ways each is expressed.
- For all 10 levels on the Fear/Love Scale (1=Max Fear through 10=Max Love), work to capture and sort your inner monologue for each of the steps.

Visionary vs Integrator
Entrepreneurial organizations have two types of leaders: Visionaries and Integrators. Together, the Visionary and the Integrator create Rocket Fuel, which launches businesses to higher levels of success.
A company needs both visionaries and operators, but they have different skill sets. One is focused on up and out, while the other is focused on down and in.
