Talk Description
Joe will discuss why managing an effective external board for your organisation starts with understanding and managing your own internal board of directors.
All businesses need a balanced board with with different perspectives on what needs to be done. One may be bullish, one may be protective one may be critical. You as the CEO need to understand the context that each board member brings to truly understand the suggestions they are making.
What if your mind works in the same way? We each have a number of relatively discrete and sometimes conflicting personalities, let’s call them parts, all working to help you make the decisions you do. Different parts take charge in different moments. Understanding which part is speaking and the history that informs them, helps you to understand why they give the advice they do. The same is true for external boards – each member comes with unique history and perspective.
Joe will help you learn to manage your mind and your board, the parts you amplify and control in different contexts; understand which parts give you superpowers and which parts can hold you back from making the leaps you need to make.
