If you don’t have a dream how you gonna have a dream come true?
My daughter is 7 she wants to be a farmer / astronaut. She asks big questions and dreams big. That’s something we loose as adults, but something I instil back into the CEOs I work with, let me show you how…
100 Things
Start a list, a list of the 100 things you want.
Perhaps you start with basic things like a vacation to Japan, or a new car, or to loose weight, or get fit, or eat more greens.
You can get to 20 pretty easily. Then you can add material things, some nice headphones, a new bag etc. But after 30 things, it starts to get harder and a whole lot more interesting.
Dreaming big is a muscle
Post 30 you are running a workout for your imagination. This is the time we really get to the things that are deep. Perhaps you want more time with your kids? To reconnect with old friends? Let it flow.
As we get above 50 we get into the deeper you. The things you probably haven’t thought about for decades, dreams you dismissed as not possible. There should be no constraint.
Power up, ask your partner to do the same
Dreaming alone is one thing, dreaming together, well that’s really fun. Open this up to your partner. What in their dreams are share in yours? What’s different?
The end game
Will my daughter ever be an astronaut? Maybe, it’s more likely she will be if she has the dream.
When I did this with my wife, we both realised we wanted to live near the sea. Fast forward two years and we do. The very act of writing what you want down and sharing makes the likelyhood of them happening exponentially more.
GO! Please do share any surprises that come up!
